Taking Brightline In South Florida

Brightline Station West Palm Beach

It seems like it took me forever, but I F I N A L L Y got around to taking Brightline in South Florida. All the way down to Miami actually! In case you don’t know what Brightline is, let me explain. (This is not a paid advertisement. All opinions are my own.)

Taking Brightline In South Florida

has just recently become an option for those of us living in Palm Beach County. Brightline is a privately owned and operated passenger rail system currently running from West Palm Beach to Miami, with one stop in Fort Lauderdale.

I’ve now been to Miami twice via the Brightline, and both trips were just wonderful. The first time, my husband and I headed to Miami, just the two of us. We love doing “Day Dates” in Miami, but I really, really don’t like the part of driving to Miami. (I’m secretly a small child that hates car rides!!). So, being able to utilize Brightline in South Florida is HUGE for me. The second time we took our daughters and we had such a blast!

Choose Your Seating

Brightline offers three types of seating choices when purchasing tickets. Smart, Smart Plus and Select. Our first ride down, we chose Smart Plus. Just a little higher priced than the Smart seating option, Smart Plus offers you a complimentary beverage (including beer & wine) and snack on your trip. Smart seating offers snacks and beverages to purchase. Their recently added Select seating offers unlimited beverages and snacks for the duration of your ride, use of their select lounge and you get to board first with pre-boarding.

Brightline Stations

The Stations

Both the West Palm Beach and Miami Brightline Stations are beautiful! Both stations have a ton of super friendly, helpful staff members. As your train pulls in you will notice them all on the platform waving hello. I love that! They also answered all our questions and were very polite.

The West Palm Beach station has a large lounge and a select lounge. Lots of food and beverages to purchase, comfy chairs to wait in and plenty of chargers for all your devices. The select lounge offers clients a separate waiting area with complimentary food and beverages.

The Miami station is a lot bigger! The same services are available as in the West Palm station, but there is also a large downstairs area with unique food vendors like Joe & The Juice, and many more coming soon. The Miami station is actually located inside Miami Central, a hub for many things coming soon to the Miami area!

Once You’re There

Brightline in South Florida is a partner with Lyft. You can grab any ride sharing right outside the station. Our family opted for an Uber ride, straight to the Salty Donut! Best. Dang. Donuts. Ever.

Salty Donut Miami

After stuffing our faces we chose a walk around the Wynwood area, to fill our eyes with some of the greatest wall murals in the US! (That’s another one of my own, unpaid for opinions). If you’re there, be sure to visit the Wynwood Walls. There is so much to do and see, it really is a wonderful spot.

Miami Things To Do Collage

Other cool spots we visited that day were, Lincoln Road Mall, Miami Design District, Brickell City Center.

Two cool locations that are closer to the Miami station are: The Frost Science Museum, and the Pérez Art Museum.

My next trip on the Brightline in South Florida will be to the Fort Lauderdale station! And I’m super pumped for the Orlando extension!! Have you taken the Brightline? If so, what did you see? What did you do? Did you enjoy the experience? Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts!

More Cool Things About Brightline In South Florida

  • All the lounges and the trains have free wifi that works great!
  • All the lounges and the trains have ample chargers to keep your devices running all day long.
  • We were super early for the train on our way back, and really tired. We were able to chill in the lounge for over an hour before the train arrived.
  • The seats are super comfy and the trains are really clean.
  • I suggest pre-buying your tickets. I tried to book at the last minute one time and everything was sold out.
  • Brightline is constantly adding new time slots to their schedule. Traveling in South Florida keeps getting easier!
  • The best part about our trip was, after being in Miami all day, walking and shopping, we were able to relax the whole train ride home (which is super quick by the way) and arrived at our car feeling refreshed and ready for a great evening at home. So much better than waiting in traffic!!

Thank you so much for reading the South Florida Local blog! I hope the contents are helpful to you and you can enjoy South Florida like I do! – ❤️ Nicole

Grandview Public Market Is Finally Open

Grandview Public Market Is Finally Open!

I have been waiting for SO long to say that! West Palm Beach is the proud host of this new culinary marketplace. Located in the Warehouse District of West Palm Beach, Grandview Public Market is the 2nd business to open in a long list of awesome things to come!

If you go, bring your appetite. There are so many amazing foods to try! My family liked it so much, we went twice in one day. LOL

I knew things were gonna be awesome…

when I noticed the door we had to walk through was pink!

There is plenty of outdoor seating and each little spot is full of prettiness. Community tables on the Loading Dock give you an opportunity to dine with someone you may not know. Don’t worry though, conversation isn’t hard to come by. Everyone seemed super excited about their food and the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, my stomach wasn’t big enough to try everything, but between my two trips I was able to try quite a bit.

I started out at the Poké Lab Eatery. Fresh ingredients and Ahi Tuna are two of may favorite things to eat, so I was pretty happy with the entire experience. The OG Pokerrito was the bomb.com. I paired my meal with an Irish Red beer by Twisted Trunk Brewing at The Little Red Truck Bar.

My daughter LOVES Ramen

and was super pumped to try out the noodles at Ramen Lab Eatery. They are located in The Incubator, a rotating pop-up showcasing local talent. She went for the pork broth and was extremely quiet for a good 15 minutes, while she enjoyed every bite!

After I went home and took my food coma nap, I returned with my husband, step daughter and her boyfriend. And guess what… We ate some more!!

There are so many fun little details scattered throughout the property.

The wallpapers and murals are amazing!

Personally, my favorite sitting area was The Living Room. The room features pretty lanterns, green couches and chairs, and plenty of tables for chatting and dining. We enjoyed our dinner in The Living Room and it was really lovely.

We started with the tacos

The mister got chicken tacos, I tried the steak tacos, and we shared the fried yuca. This wasn’t my first experience with Zipitios. They make an extraordinarily tasty taco! Everything is so fresh and so tasty. They paired perfectly with our Chancellors by Tequesta Brewing Co., from the The Little Red Truck Bar.

The kids ordered delicious looking cheeseburgers from Claire’s and paired them with some good old fashioned Coca-Cola® in a bottle. Their bellies were happy.

We saved the sweets for last

I had only ever never seen Thai Rolled Ice Cream on Instagram, before our visit to Grandview Public Market. Nothing has made me regret my inability to digest dairy more than the CremaRolls Ice Cream Stand! It is a cool experience and they use tons of interesting combinations of ingredients. The rest of my family was RAVING about how good it was!

Don’t worry about me though, my Vanilla Almond Milk Latte from Rabbit Coffee and my birthday cake sandwich cookie from Earth & Sugar, made me a happy girl.

I give the the entire experience a 5 Star Review! There are still several eateries I didn’t get to try, so another trip is in our very near future. I’m already a big fan of their neighbor, Elizabeth Ave. Station, and I’m super pumped about all the new businesses coming to The Warehouse District.

Have you been to Grandview Public Market? If so, I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments!

❤ Nicole

Meet Local Artist Sarah LaPierre

If you live anywhere in Palm Beach County,

you have most likely seen my next guest featured in a number of local publications or at local events! She’s a very busy young woman, making the world a more colorful place, one painting at a time! I’m really excited about the opportunity to interview this super talented local! So, without further adieu, Meet Local Artist Sarah LaPierre!

Tell us about yourself:

Sarah LaPierre, born in Palm Beach Gardens FL circa 1991. Full time resident of South Florida, made a huge move all the way over to West Palm Beach a few years ago. I live there with my partner Michael, our 2 adorable ex-alley cats Dredd and Ditto, and our sweet American pit bull terrier Dex. Dex might possibly think he’s a cat too!

When did you start painting and was it always with a knife?

I’ve been creating in someway or another from early childhood. Since my dad was an artist, and his studio was in our home, the materials were always around. Creativity was very much encouraged.
I didn’t begin painting regularly till I was 18. At that time it was more experimental, exploring brush work across all sorts of genre with different textures and mediums.

Major influences:

My connection to my dad and his work remains the strongest influence in my own. I consider my style the next generation of his. In that, it’s a combination of both history and future, with techniques learned from pop as well as new methods discovered along the journey.

Most challenging about running my own business:

Balancing a creative drive and a “life” outside of work. It’s a battle, but it has become very important to me to manage my time better and realize the difference between the essential and non-essential. It’s easy to fall into a hole of never ending to-dos when you work from home because it’s always present till you consciously make the effort to put it aside.

Most rewarding about managing my own business:

Seeing something I work hard at developing, grow and prosper is very rewarding. But also, the fact that I am able to manage my own time is wonderful. I love having the flexibility to make time for family and travel whenever I choose.

What do I like to do on my days off:

I enjoy spending down time with my family and pets, usually outside. A trip to Jupiter’s dog beach is always a good time!

What living person do you most admire:

I am blessed to have lots of truly admirable and wonderful people in my life, even just here locally. All of them for various reasons, so much that it’s hard to name just one, either within or outside of my life circle.

Where can we find Sarah LaPierre online:

You can find more information about me and my artwork online at www.sarahlapierre.com however the best way to see what’s new or upcoming is to follow my social accounts @thickpaint on Instagram and on Facebook @Sarah LaPierre-Artist

Any upcoming events you would like to share with us?

I’ll be showing at my last festival of the spring season this weekend at SunFest in West Palm Beach May 5th-7th! After that keep and eye out for upcoming events with my new gallery representation Ready2Hang Art in Downtown Abacoa (Jupiter).

Thank you for sharing your story and your images, Sarah!

As always, thanks for reading the blog, friends!

Don’t forget,

if you or someone you know is thinking of buying or selling a home in the Northern Palm Beach County area, I’d LOVE for you to Contact Me! Let me help you have an enjoyable real estate experience! ❤️ Nicole
