Taking Brightline In South Florida

Brightline Station West Palm Beach

It seems like it took me forever, but I F I N A L L Y got around to taking Brightline in South Florida. All the way down to Miami actually! In case you don’t know what Brightline is, let me explain. (This is not a paid advertisement. All opinions are my own.)

Taking Brightline In South Florida

has just recently become an option for those of us living in Palm Beach County. Brightline is a privately owned and operated passenger rail system currently running from West Palm Beach to Miami, with one stop in Fort Lauderdale.

I’ve now been to Miami twice via the Brightline, and both trips were just wonderful. The first time, my husband and I headed to Miami, just the two of us. We love doing “Day Dates” in Miami, but I really, really don’t like the part of driving to Miami. (I’m secretly a small child that hates car rides!!). So, being able to utilize Brightline in South Florida is HUGE for me. The second time we took our daughters and we had such a blast!

Choose Your Seating

Brightline offers three types of seating choices when purchasing tickets. Smart, Smart Plus and Select. Our first ride down, we chose Smart Plus. Just a little higher priced than the Smart seating option, Smart Plus offers you a complimentary beverage (including beer & wine) and snack on your trip. Smart seating offers snacks and beverages to purchase. Their recently added Select seating offers unlimited beverages and snacks for the duration of your ride, use of their select lounge and you get to board first with pre-boarding.

Brightline Stations

The Stations

Both the West Palm Beach and Miami Brightline Stations are beautiful! Both stations have a ton of super friendly, helpful staff members. As your train pulls in you will notice them all on the platform waving hello. I love that! They also answered all our questions and were very polite.

The West Palm Beach station has a large lounge and a select lounge. Lots of food and beverages to purchase, comfy chairs to wait in and plenty of chargers for all your devices. The select lounge offers clients a separate waiting area with complimentary food and beverages.

The Miami station is a lot bigger! The same services are available as in the West Palm station, but there is also a large downstairs area with unique food vendors like Joe & The Juice, and many more coming soon. The Miami station is actually located inside Miami Central, a hub for many things coming soon to the Miami area!

Once You’re There

Brightline in South Florida is a partner with Lyft. You can grab any ride sharing right outside the station. Our family opted for an Uber ride, straight to the Salty Donut! Best. Dang. Donuts. Ever.

Salty Donut Miami

After stuffing our faces we chose a walk around the Wynwood area, to fill our eyes with some of the greatest wall murals in the US! (That’s another one of my own, unpaid for opinions). If you’re there, be sure to visit the Wynwood Walls. There is so much to do and see, it really is a wonderful spot.

Miami Things To Do Collage

Other cool spots we visited that day were, Lincoln Road Mall, Miami Design District, Brickell City Center.

Two cool locations that are closer to the Miami station are: The Frost Science Museum, and the Pérez Art Museum.

My next trip on the Brightline in South Florida will be to the Fort Lauderdale station! And I’m super pumped for the Orlando extension!! Have you taken the Brightline? If so, what did you see? What did you do? Did you enjoy the experience? Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts!

More Cool Things About Brightline In South Florida

  • All the lounges and the trains have free wifi that works great!
  • All the lounges and the trains have ample chargers to keep your devices running all day long.
  • We were super early for the train on our way back, and really tired. We were able to chill in the lounge for over an hour before the train arrived.
  • The seats are super comfy and the trains are really clean.
  • I suggest pre-buying your tickets. I tried to book at the last minute one time and everything was sold out.
  • Brightline is constantly adding new time slots to their schedule. Traveling in South Florida keeps getting easier!
  • The best part about our trip was, after being in Miami all day, walking and shopping, we were able to relax the whole train ride home (which is super quick by the way) and arrived at our car feeling refreshed and ready for a great evening at home. So much better than waiting in traffic!!

Thank you so much for reading the South Florida Local blog! I hope the contents are helpful to you and you can enjoy South Florida like I do! – ❤️ Nicole

Should You Move To Tequesta Florida?

Tequesta Florida

Are you considering a move? There are lots of wonderful places to choose from in our area.

Should you move to Tequesta Florida?

Off the top of my head, I’m going to say YES! However, if you need a little more persuasion than just me, here are some wonderful things about The Village of Tequesta.

Tequesta, Florida is the most northern town of Palm Beach County. Some parts of Tequesta spill over into Martin County. It’s actually a Village, due to it’s population size of approximately 5,600 people.

There are three types of homes in Tequesta, condos, townhomes and single family homes. There are are large number of homes without an HOA.

Throughout Tequesta there is a variety of community types: Waterfront, Golf Course Views, Wildlife Reserve Views, Cul-de-Sac, Country Club, Gated, Non-Gated and so many more!

Search current homes for sale in Tequesta Florida here.

The Village offers many sponsored events throughout the year, that are free to it’s residents. There is a sense of community here that only comes from small town living. The quiet, palm lined streets, unique small businesses, and friendly neighbors give Tequesta, Florida a real beach town vibe.

From the centrally located Lighthouse Center for the Arts, it’s a quick 3 mile drive to the beautiful Jupiter Inlet.

Grab a coffee at one of the two fantastic coffee houses, located in Tequesta. Oceana Coffee and Perk Coffee House. As well as serving local roasted coffee, both companies offer endless community events and a great way to meet your neighbors!

A great way to see Tequesta is from the waterways. Make your way up the scenic Intracoastal or see the iconic Loxahatchee River. You can rent paddleboards or a boat from Jupiter Pointe Club & Marina. Many homes throughout Tequesta are located on the water and have easy access for many types & sizes of boating and water crafts.

Families love Tequesta Florida, for all of the above things, as well as some very cool amenities available to Village residents.

One of the big favorites for the younger kiddo crowd is Constitution Park. There are 2 playgrounds (separated by age groups), a rock climbing wall,  tree house, walking trail, basketball courts, bicycle parking and so much more. Check out the other parks and facilities located in Tequesta Florida, including a skate park and putting green, here.

Great Schools

Homes in Tequesta on the Palm Beach County side are zoned for Jupiter Schools:

Jupiter Elementary or Limestone Creek Elementary, Jupiter Middle & Jupiter Community High School.

On the Martin County side of Tequesta, students are zoned for Hobe Sound Elementary, Murray Middle & South Fork High School.

New communities are being built all the time, and school information is always changing. If you have specific questions, I’m happy to help. Email me.

Make Your Inner Foodie Happy

I’ve already mentioned two fantastic coffee houses located in Tequesta. There are so many great places to eat and drink, you may never leave!

Here are a few of my personal favorites:

  • Tequesta Brewing Company – The original Craft Brewery in this area. My favorite is Der Chancellor.
  • The Crafty Crust – Brick Oven Pizza & Craft Brews.
  • Hog Snappers – They have a wide variety of sushi, fresh seafood and my favorite Fish Dip! Plenty of Delicious wine & craft beer too.
  • 3 Natives – The original location started here, before they franchised. Wraps, smoothies, cold press juice and more!
  • Lynora’s – Modern Italian Food, and gorgeous venue.

What Tequesta Florida Residents Are Saying

-Milka Gordillo owner of DreamallowsSo many things that I ❤️ about our tiny village… I love our Tequesta Park & the events they are constantly creating for residents. It is quiet, small & you easily run into your doctor at the supermarket. It is away from Jupiter yet you can still smell the beach! ❤️

-Jonathan Albert: I love the small town feel. Tequesta is a big as It is ever going to get, and it seems like everyone knows each other and looks out for one another. This was really apparent the day before Hurricane Irma. All day, neighbors were helping each other put up shutters, find gas and load up on ice. That evening, it felt like the whole village was at TBC, blowing off steam. It just felt like a great community.

-Anna Bordner, Blogger at What I love about living in Tequesta, is that I have this bubble of friends, family, and my favorite places all in one area – our gym, our church, the beach, breweries, good food and good coffee is all close by! I grew up boating, so having easy access to the water is key for our family and is where you’ll find us most weekends!

Do you have questions about Tequesta Florida? Let me know in the comments!

If you are looking to buy or sell in Tequesta Florida, I’d love to help you!
