Open House – Heights of Jupiter

I’m having an Open House today! Featuring this great home in Jupiter, Florida. Such a perfect opportunity, at a very affordable price! This CBS constructed, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2-car garage Single Family Home sits inside the very desirable Non-HOA community of the Heights of Jupiter. With grade “A” schools and multiple amenities to choose from, this home is great for any family. Such amenities and luxuries include a community park, town basketball courts, local golf course, local restaurants and boutiques, and being only seconds from the beach or shopping. On top of all the amenities, this community is one of the very few that does not have the extra monthly or quarterly fee of an HOA. Without a doubt, this home is a great deal. This home hasn’t even gone on the MLS yet! Stop by & see it (and me) today, from 12-3PM. Plus…I’ll have cookies!

Meet Alexandra Gioia – Maker

This post was originally posted HERE on June 9, 2015

I have had a crush on all things druzy for quite sometime now. Druzy jewelry is some of my favorite baubles that I own. It’s just so pretty! Enter Alexandra, designer extraordinaire! She makes the loveliest pieces and I basically want them all! I contacted her recently to do an interview and was so excited when she agreed! Just be warned, after you read this and see the photos, you’re going to “need” a few of her pieces!

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

Hi! I’m Alexandra but you can call me Allie, everyone has since Preschool. I was born and raised in Miami but have called Jupiter, FL home for the past 15 years. The laid back lifestyle is much more me and feel so lucky to pass by the Jupiter Lighthouse everyday on my way home!
2. When did you start the Alexandra Gioia brand?
I have been designing jewelry for a year and a half and it has quickly become a passion of mine. Not only do I love designing but I love the marketing side of it too. I have connected with so many talented, like minded people through social media platforms like Instagram.
IMG_4541
3. Who makes up the Alexandra Gioia crew?
I design, create, shoot and market the line but I do have the occasional help from my very supportive husband. I’m constantly asking him to take pictures of my bracelets like this, with that background, with this outfit. He’s a good sport 98% of the time.
IMG_4083

4. What do you find most challenging about running your own business?
It’s most definitely a challenge. I work full-time so I play jewelry designer by morning, night and weekends. It’s really a dream so I can’t complain.
5. What is the most rewarding thing about running your company?
Coming across photos of girls wearing my jewelry is insane! I love seeing how others style my pieces. They inspire me to accessorize in ways I hadn’t thought of. Also, hearing stories of why customers are buying a particular piece is really special. It’s made me want to buy more “just because” gifts for others like my customers do.

6. What do you do on your days off?
My husband and I bought the fixer upper of our neighborhood so it seems our second home is Home Depot as of late. When we’re not renovating I do enjoy relaxing on the beach (with spf 75+) and trying out new local restaurants. Our friends refer to us as the “food snobs”. Pretty sure that’s not a compliment. Ha!
IMG_4957
7. How do you juggle work & family?
My family is so special to me and I’m lucky enough to have them nearby so I always try to make time for them.
IMG_5254
8. Who is your favorite Superhero and why?
Wonder Woman because of her great taste in accessories. Those gold cuffs are on point!

10. Is there anything else you would like is to know? Upcoming events, etc.
The pronunciation of my middle name is tricky, Gioia. Like Joy-uh. With no boys in the family to carry on the Gioia name, I decided I would with the launch of my line. It’s really fun hearing the variety of ways people say it.

It’s Back To Yoga For Me

This post originally posted HERE on May 27, 2015

So, for those of you that don’t know me that well, let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I’m a South Florida Native, born in Palm Beach Gardens Hospital (a few years back) and moved to Jupiter, Florida when I was 3 months old. I went to all three Jupiter schools and graduated from Jupiter High School. I love Jupiter! Seriously, it’s like the best town ever!

BeachAcces47_3

But I digress. Some other things about me are: I was a single Mom to a pretty amazing kid for 14 years. Almost 5 years ago I met a super cool dude named Avel, and this past January we got married!! It’s been a really fun adventure with LOTS of changes and I still can’t believe this is all really happening. <3

singleMom

As happy as I am (and I really am), the last year has been 100 miles an hour and full of change. I got engaged, I left my job of 15 years to focus all my attention on real estate, I got married, I moved in with my husband, my daughter changed schools, and I gained 2 awesome step kids! All of this change has brought out a side of me that’s been rather dormant these last few years. I tend to be a “bit” of a worry wart. And when I say “bit” I mean FULL ON WORRY MONSTER! So big changes usually have a way of stressing me out. Now, I know, most people get kinda weird about big changes. It’s totally normal. What’s not normal is how I seem to deal with the kind of stress. For some reason I don’t realize how stressed out I am until my body literally tells me. Seriously, it’s so strange!

I first had a physical reaction to stress about 8 years ago, when I was having problems catching my breath. I couldn’t fully understand what was happening, so I went to Urgent Care to get it checked out. When I got there, the Doctor informed me I was having a panic attack and hyperventilating. I was like, “Say what!?”. She asked me if I had been under any stress lately, asked me to try and de-stress and told me if it didn’t get better, I may need to see someone or possibly even consider anti anxiety meds!

db50acdb347e3ac338a4eaf8dd7aa169

Because of that experience I learned to talk myself down, if I felt like I was starting up again. I seemed to be able to calm myself down and get over it before things turned into hyperventilating. So yay for that! Other things that happened to me due to stress, I have a leak in my retina and most recently, I got shingles!

From these experiences it is painfully obvious to me that I need to take better care of myself. The excuse of being too busy to exercise or eat well is just not going to cut it anymore. That’s where yoga comes in.

IMG_6768

Last fall I discovered Kula Yoga Shala, right here in Jupiter. I did the beginning yoga class they offer several times, and really enjoyed it. But then life got crazy and i didn’t go back. Last week I went back! Instead of taking the beginner class, I opted for the Organic Vinyasa. It was SO hard, but really really good! I went back twice, with two different instructors and it totally kicked my butt! I was so sore!! Hahaha! The best part about yoga is that it’s totally personal. You do what feels good to your body, that is amazing! I was in a class with very skilled people, unlike myself, but I was still able to get a vigorous workout. Physically and mentally. I’m going to try and do two to three classes a week, eat better and get more sleep. Life’s too short to not take my health seriously!

Do you do yoga? Where do you go? What is your favorite type of class? Let me know, maybe I’ll join you for a class or two!

Thanks for reading, lovies. – Nicole

Meet Halle Frey of Flower & Fringe

This post was originally posted HERE on May 26, 2015

I found Halle on one of my many Instagram sessions. These mostly consist of me clicking on everything that looks interesting on Instagram! Halle’s images have beautiful floral arrangements and flower crowns…what’s not to love about that!? So, I reached out to her and she happily agreed to do an interview for the blog! So without further ado, I introduce to you, Halle Frey of Flower & Fringe!photo-48 copy 2

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

My Name is Halle Frey I was born and raised in Erie, PA. Took a big leap of faith and moved to WPB, Fl to attend college at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Did not know a soul here but as soon as I planted my feet I realized I was in the right place. Graduated in 2005 with a degree in Marketing and have been pursuing different dreams since. After many moves to different states and many many different jobs I am now calling West Palm home again.

I have a cute pup named Daisy Mae, which she came with her name. I thought it was appropriate since I love flowers. She’s a sweet rescue dog and looks like a mini golden retriever. No kids yet but a very handsome boyfriend, Matt, who I adore.

2. When did you start the Flower & Fringe brand and what are the services you offer?

Flower & Fringe has been a dream of mine since I was younger. My Aunt Karen had a flower shop when I was growing up in PA and she taught me everything I know. She’s crazy talented with flowers. It has always been a love of mine, one that I never thought I would really make into a business of my own. I started F&F a year and a half ago. I was just testing the waters for the first year, only doing it part-time. As of April 2015 I have decided to go full force with my business and now have a flower workshop located in Uptown Art’s West Palm Beach location. The focus for F&F is to create a unique floral experience for small intimate events, holiday gatherings and weddings. We also offer floral design workshops and the occasional whimsical bouquet to go. Attention to detail is very important with each bouquet, centerpiece or flower crown keeping to its organic look.

bridesmaid 23. Who makes up the Flower & Fringe crew?

Right now the F&F crew is just me with the occasional help of a willing friend or family member. My parents have been a huge support through this whole process.
halleflorals-354. What do you find most challenging about running your own business? What is the most rewarding thing about running your company?

Well as most business owners know there are good days and bad days, ups and downs. With owning my own business the thing I appreciate the most is being able to be creative and build something from the ground up. It has challenged me and grown me but you never know if you can accomplish something unless you try.

shea 55. Who is your favorite Superhero and why?

My superheros have always been both of my parents. I have seen my own father run his business and go through the highs and lows of it all, always supporting his family and being steadfast through different stages of life. My mom because she just graduated from college with a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant. I don’t know how she did it but she did and it is a great reminder that its never too late.
